Since 2009
Everest Base Camp Treks was founded by Pemba Sherpa, a Namche-born mountain guide, after a decade guiding for larger Kathmandu agencies. We stayed small on purpose: every guide on staff has grown up in or spent years living in the Khumbu region we guide through.

Our Approach
Most altitude sickness cases on the EBC trail come from itineraries that skip acclimatization days to save time or cost. We build two full rest days into every route above 3,400m and cap daily elevation gain in line with Wilderness Medical Society guidelines, even when it means a longer, more expensive trip than competitors advertise.
Every group carries a pulse oximeter and our guides are trained to recognize early AMS symptoms and turn a trekker back if needed — a call we make more often than we'd like, but one that has kept our safety record clean for 16 years.
